Summer Sinuous explores movement and contrast in a compact format. Painted alla prima, this 6×8″ oil study on gessoed paper captures a model’s sinuous pose against a vibrant blue field.
Working from the photo reference, I emphasized the interplay of soft, warm flesh tones with cooler shadow glazes to model the figure’s graceful curves, while the saturated background adds depth and energy. The sharp hairline and fluid body shapes speak to the tension between edge and elegance.
